EARLY SEASON SUCCESS

Indian Hills has opened up the 2022 season with a 3-2 record with all five games coming on the road against top-10 nationally ranked opponents. The Warriors split a four-game series with then-No. 6 Cowley and won its lone contest against now No. 6 Crowder on Tuesday.

  • As a team, the Warriors are batting .301 on the year and currently have seven players batting .333 or better.
  • The Indian Hills pitching staff is averaging 10.61 K/9 as the Warriors have punched out 44 batters thus far.

SIZING UP THE BEARS

  • Baton Rouge enters Thursday's matchup with a 14-16 overall record, including an 8-10 mark at home. The 30 games played so far are the most in the nation.
  • The Bears dropped a pair of games to Jones College on Wednesday night, falling to the Bobcats 3-1 and 9-3 in Baton Rouge.

  • Sophomore Jack Payne was tapped as this week's NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week as well as the ICCAC Athlete of the Week. Payne is 2-0 on the year with a 0.00 ERA and has struck out seven batters in 4.2 innings of work.
  • Freshman Daniel Figueroa has gotten off to a dominant start to his collegiate career, going 9-19 (.474) in five games at the plate. The starting centerfielder has collected three doubles, six runs, and six stolen bases to open up the year.
  • Sergio Chavez homered twice against Cowley and is batting .429 on the year.
