Indian Hills Wins at Dodge City

Dodge City, Kansas -- In their next-to-last competition of the fall season, the top-ranked Indian Hills golf team won the Dodge City Shootout at the Mariah Hills Golf Course on Saturday, taking the one-day, 36-hole event by 20 strokes over the host Dodge City Conqs.

The Warriors grabbed an eight-shot lead after the first round after shooting a team score of 288, and then posted a 283 total in the next 18 holes to roll to their second win of the fall. They now have two first-place finishes and two seconds with one meet, the NJCAA Preview, remaining.

Indian Hills had three of the top four scores in the Dodge City tourney. Jakub Bares was the runnerup with a 142 and Jack Duguid and Jackson Bugdalski each had a 143 total. The meet medalist was Dodge City's Witchayapat Sinsrang, whose 138 total was four shots better than Bares. IHCC's Bugdalski matched Sinsrang for the best round of the tourney with the 67 that both golfers fashioned over the final round. Bares had an opening-round 68.

IHCC coach Rob Murray praised his team for its win, saying they played well in tough conditions and finished with a strong second round.

The final meet of the season is the NJCAA Fall National Preview, to be contested at the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kansas, on Monday and Tuesday. The 14 NJCAA teams assembled will play 36 holes the first day and 18 on Tuesday. The Warriors tied for first in last year's Preview after consecutive third-place finishes the previous two years.
