WARRIORS WRAP UP FALL AT NATIONAL PREVIEW

Hobbs, NM – The top-ranked Indian Hills Men's Golf team wrapped up play at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Preview with the lowest round of the tournament. The Warriors finished the event in sixth place overall with a 12-over, 864.

Competing at Rockwind Community Golf Course, the home of the 2024 NJCAA DI Men's Golf National Championship, the Warriors fired a 9-under, 275 to climb the leaderboard through the final 18 holes. The Warriors' 275 was four strokes better than any of the 17 teams competing in the Preview. Indian Hills saw five individuals shoot 69 or better in the final round.

"It was a good learning experience at the National Preview to close out our fall season," stated head coach Michael Wetrich. "Great opportunity to learn more about the course and get a feel for how it will play in the spring. We struggled on the first day to get settled into our rounds which put us in a tough position for the final round, but was great to see the team come together for the last 18 and shoot the tournament low round by four shots to move up the leaderboard."

For the fourth consecutive tournament, the Warriors were led by sophomore All-American Gaspar Glaudas (Sainte Tulle, France/Shattuck St-Mary's). Glaudas used a first and third round 69 to finish 1-under, good enough for eighth among the 101 individuals at the event. Over his last three events, Glaudas is averaging a third round score of 67.6 and has now posted 12 rounds in the 60's throughout his Indian Hills career.

Defending national champion Jose Miguel Ramirez (Maturin, Venezuela/Alejandro De Humboldt) tied for 11th overall with a 1-over, 213. Ramirez fired a 3-under, 68 in the final round for the Warriors, tied for the third-lowest individual score of the tournament.

Joining Ramirez in 11th place was freshman Matias Koropeski (Posadas, Argentina/Instituto Posadas Educa) who used a third round 69 to climb the leaderboard on the final day.

Shinju Aoki (Auckland, New Zealand/Rosmini College) tied for 37th overall with a 7-over. Aoki used a career-best round of 69 on the final day to score for the Warriors. Emilio Arellano Lamas (Aguascalientes, Mexico/Instituto Universitario Mexico) tied for a season-best round with a 69 in round three.

"We have a great group of student-athletes and are looking forward to continuing to improve over the offseason and see how we fair in the spring."

The Warriors' fall season wraps up with the annual exhibition Warrior Cup at The Club in Ottumwa on October 27.
