Tyarra English-Paulson breaks 200m school record.

Lubbock, Texas -- The freshmen duo of Tyarra English-Paulson and Shalandra Shilling represented the Indian Hills women's track and field team this past weekend at the 2018 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championshps hosted by Texas Tech University.

English-Paulson entered the meet as one of three women in the NJCAA to qualify for the 200m, 400m, and 600m. Due to the clsoe proximity of these events in the meet schedule, the freshman from Mayer, Minnesota competed in just the 200m and 400m. English-Paulson opened the meet with a 17th place finish in the 400m (58.38), just .02 seconds off of her school record. An hour later, English-Paulson shattered her school record by .25 seconds in the 200m, finishing in 25.34 seconds (25th overall).

Shalandra Shilling was fresh off a Region XI high jump title. The freshman from Oskaloosa, Iowa was unable to clear the lofty opening height of 1.56m.

The women's and men's track and field teams will have a short hiatus before opening up their outdoor seasons Saturday, March 17th at Central Methodist University.
