Sophomore Mohamed Tarek Abdelhady of the No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Wrestling squad has been named the Indian Hills Hy-Vee Male Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of December.
Abdelhady, a returning NJCAA All-American for the Warriors, put together an impressive month of December that saw the sophomore place first overall at the 34th Annual Art Kraft Memorial, one of the premiere junior college wrestling tournaments in the nation. Abdelhady went 4-0 at the event to close out the month with a 5-0 record, including two falls, a tech fall, and a major decision.
Abdelhady, who is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation in The Open Mat 165lb rankings, No. 5 in The Open Mat Pound-for-Pound national rankings, and No. 2 in the NJCAA 165lb poll, placed second overall at the 2025 NJCAA National Championship.
In the classroom, Abdelhady was recently named to the ICCAC Academic All-Region First-Team for the third consecutive semester.
Each month, with the support of the local Ottumwa Hy-Vee, the Indian Hills Athletic Department selects a male and female student-athlete of the month based on their academic and athletic performances throughout the previous month. Fans can catch interviews of each student-athlete from Ottumwa's South Hy-Vee on the GoHillsTV Facebook Page.
