Tanon Smith was named the Interim Head Coach of the Indian Hills Women's Soccer Program in July, 2022.

Smith, who served as the team's assistant coach since 2019, has helped guide the Warriors to new heights during his tenure in Ottumwa. The program won a school record 18 matches in the Fall 2021 and reached the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI National Tournament, the first in program history, in the Spring 2021 season.

In Smith's second season under head coach Anthony Longo, the Warriors earned the program's first-ever berth to the NJCAA National Tournament behind an 11-3-2 record. Indian Hills earned a shootout victory at the tournament to set a new program standard. Smith helped guide six all-region players during the Spring 2021 season, including three first-team selections.

Smith helped oversee a 15-2-1 campaign a year ago, which was just one win shy of the school record for wins (16-4-1 in 2018).  The Warriors made the Region IX championship contest, falling 2-1 to Iowa Western.  Smith helped develop what would be eight all-Region players and one all-American selection in sophomore Emily Murphy.  Murphy ended her IHCC career as the school's all-time best goal scorer with 71.  The 2019 Warriors netted 94 goals, second most in school history.

Smith came to IHCC with nearly eight years experience coaching soccer in Florida.  Most recently, he was the head coach of Global Premier and coached at Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando where he was the JV head coach and assisted with the varsity boys squad.  The Indian Hills coach was also the head coach at St. John Vianney High School, also in Orlando, where his teams won three championships and had five finals appearances.

Smith earned an associates degree from Valencia College in Orlando and got his bachelor's of science in business administration from the University of Central Florida.  He was on the dean's list multiple semesters at Valencia and graduated magna cum laude from UCF.
