Huge Comeback Win for IHCC Baseball

Centerville -- Jet Weber's two-run single in the bottom of the 10th inning capped an Indian Hills comeback that saw the Falcons, who trailed 10-1 after 2 1/2 innings, pull out a 14-13 victory against visiting DMACC at Pat Daugherty Field on Wednesday.

The Bears jumped on the Falcons with a 6-run 1st inning and went on top 10-1 before IHCC poured across 12 runs over the final four innings. 

Garrett Takamatsu's grand slam homer in the 8th inning aided the IHCC rally.

After Indian Hills scored twice in the bottom of the 9th to send the game into extra innings tied at 12-all, DMACC took a one-run lead by plating a run in the top of the 10th, but Weber's hit gave the hosts the win.

The two teams combined for 34 hits.

"We did a wonderful job of having competitive at-bats all game," said IHCC coach Matthew Torrez.  "The ball started bouncing our way late in the game.  We showed resiliency and got a really good team win."

The Falcons had lots of hitting stars in addition to Weber, who was 2-for-6 and scored twice, and Takamatsu.  Cooper Huckabone, Juan Silva and Nathan Chasey had two-hit games and Jameson Hart drove in three runs. 

Indian Hills employed six pitchers.  Chasey pitched the final three innings and notched the win.

The Falcons will open conference play with four games against Southwestern CC this weekend.
