TORRES' STREAK CONTINUES, WARRIORS DROP DMACC

Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Baseball team picked up an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) series win after taking Monday's rubber match with Des Moines Area Community College 13-3 in seven innings at Pat Daugherty Field. The Warriors move 25-8 overall and 10-4 in conference action.

Sophomore shortstop Raul Torres (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Leadership Christian Academy) extended his on-base streak to 31 contests with a dominant performance, going 3-5 at the plate with a grand slam and two runs scored. Sophomore JJ Dutton (Toronto, Canada/Forest Hill) added three knocks and a pair of RBI while Zachari Pace (Colorado Springs, CO/Vista Ridge) tacked on two hits for the Warriors.

On the mound, sophomore Jordan Scholl (Warrenville, IL/Wheaton Warrenville South) allowed just two hits in four innings of work while striking out four batters. Freshman Aiden Ennis (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward Catholic) added three innings of solid relief work, allowing just one hit with zero runs allowed to pick up his first collegiate victory.

Indian Hills has now won three of its four three-game conference series on the year and sit in second-place in the ICCAC DI Baseball standings behind No. 1 nationally ranked Iowa Western Community College.

The Warriors opened up the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the first to break the game open. An RBI single by Dutton put the Warriors on the board before a pair of bases-loaded walks extended the lead. The Bears eventually clawed back to tie the game at three in the fifth only to see Torres deliver the knockout punch in the bottom half of the frame with a grand slam, the sophomore's first-career home run.

Dutton added a two-run single in the seventh as the Warriors plated five runs in the inning to force the 10-run mercy rule. Sophomore Ciro Benavides (Laredo, TX/Alexander) tallied the final hit of the night, a pinch-hit, two-run double down the right field line.

The Warriors have now scored double-digit runs in 13 games this year.

Torres, who has reached base safely in all but one contest this year, has hit safely in 18 of the team's last 19 contests. The shortstop leads the ICCAC with a .426 batting average on the year.

Indian Hills returns to action Wednesday afternoon at Pat Daugherty Field with a 1:00 PM single ICCAC contest against Ellsworth Community College.
