TORRES EARNS FOURTH ICCAC HONOR

Centerville, IA – For the fourth time this season, sophomore Raul Torres (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Leadership Christian Academy) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Baseball Player of the Week. Torres led the Warriors to three victories on the diamond last week.

One of the top hitters in not only the ICCAC, but the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Torres continued to swing at a torrid pace for the Warriors. In five games last week, Torres collected 10 hits while posting a .526 batting average to pace the offensive attack for Indian Hills. The sophomore raised his team-leading batting average to .415 on the year.

While Torres continued an unprecedented run at the plate, the sophomore eclipsed a career milestone last week for the Warriors. In a 13-2 win over North Iowa Area Community College on Monday, Torres tallied two hits to surpass the 100-hit milestone for his Indian Hills career. Torres currently sits at 109 hits over the course of the last two seasons in Centerville.

Torres, who has reached base in 40 of the team's 42 games this year, reached base safely 16 times last week for a .640 on-base percentage. Along with his multi-hit performance against NIACC, Torres tallied three hits in each of the first two games of the ICCAC three-game series at Iowa Central Community College on Saturday.

Torres added seven runs scored and seven RBI to give the sophomore 52 in each category this year, both team-leading marks. The sophomore ranks in the top-five in the ICCAC in each category and leads the league with 22 double plays turned on the year.

The Warriors return to action Wednesday afternoon for an ICCAC doubleheader at Ellsworth Community College. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM
