Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Baseball team dropped a 16-3 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) matchup to Iowa Central Community College on Friday at Pat Daugherty Field. The Warriors fall to 9-15 overall and 3-4 in league play.
The Warriors fell behind early as the Tritons jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. All three of the Warriors' runs came over the final two innings.
Sophomores Tijmen Nagel (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Roc Amsterdam) and AJ Marchetti (Wheeling, IL/Wheeling) each tallied a pair of hits in the loss. Nagel has now hit safely in nine of the last 10 contests, boasting a .439 batting average (18-41).
Ethan Acevedo (Monroe, NY/Iona Prep) and Kevin Ramos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Springfield Commonwealth) each added extra base knocks for the Warriors.
On the mound, freshman Jeryel Oquendo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Academy) made his collegiate debut, striking out four batters while allowing just one base hit in two innings of relief work.
The Warriors and Tritons return to action Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader. First pitch from Pat Daugherty Field is set for 12:00 PM.
