The Indian Hills Baseball program has added Hunter McKown as an assistant coach to Matt Torrez's staff, announced in July of 2024.
"I'm really excited to hit the ground running with the team and continue to improve upon the successful program that coach Torrez has been building here," stated McKown.
McKown joins the Warrior staff after a season as an assistant coach at National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Baseball member Andrew College (GA). McKown aided in all facets of the program, including player development, recruiting, field maintenance, weight training programs, and practice planning.
"Hunter will be helping with the infielders and hitters and adding outfielders to his plate this year also," stated head coach Matt Torrez. "You can tell a lot about a coach when they are willing to pick up their life and move half way across the country to continue their coaching journey - it shows the commitment to be in this business and make an impact on young kids. We are excited to have Hunter at IHCC and help us grow our program."
McKown served as head coach of the collegiate summer league team Pensacola Pogues during the 2024 campaign. McKown oversaw the recruitment and management of the program.
McKown received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in management from the University of South Carolina – Beaufort where he spent three seasons on the baseball team. McKown also spent two seasons at Florida Southern College.
