CHEER COMPETES AT UCA GAMEDAY IN COLORADO

Denver, CO – The Indian Hills Competitive Cheer program made its competition debut for the 2023 season at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Regional Competition at the National Western Complex.

Nearly half of the Warrior program competed in the Game Day Competition routine consisting of the fight song, a situational sideline chant, and a timeout routine.

"I was very pleased with our timeout performance," stated head coach Cyndi Mellin. "We have some improvements to work on for the fight song and sideline performances, as well as hitting our extensions and the first pyramid, but overall, our pyramid performance was the best the team has done this year."

Freshman Jafet Perez (San Pedro Sula, Honduras/Saint Peter's Academy) made the most of his first collegiate competitive cheer experience on the big stage. "I wasn't expecting the lights, the incredible amount of people, and the number of teams competing."

Emma Strayer (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) noted the overall experience the benefited the team. "It was fun to see how the team dynamics changed as we entered the mat."
