WARRIORS CLIMB TO NO. 8 IN NATIONAL POLL

Ottumwa, IA – After a pair of wins at the Iowa-Missouri Challenge, the Indian Hills Men's Basketball team jumped to No. 8 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball poll, announced Monday afternoon.

The Warriors jumped five spots from its previous ranking of No. 13 last week after falling from its No. 2 spot in the preseason poll. The Warriors (3-1) picked up two wins over non-region members at the Iowa-Missouri Challenge over the weekend in Missouri State University-West Plains and Moberly Area Community College (MO).

Indian Hills topped West Plains 75-70 on Friday night to bounce back after its first loss of the season the week prior. The Warriors used a late 10-2 run to overwhelm the Grizzlies down the stretch. Taj Anderson (Queens, NY/Quality Education) and Eddiean Tirado (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Miami Triple Threat Prep) paced the Warriors with 16 points apiece.

On Saturday, the Warriors topped No. 20 Moberly Area 82-73 after an offensive outburst from Tirado. The freshman guard connected on nine three-point shots in the win to finish with 29 points. The win was the ninth in a row for the Warriors over the Greyhounds.

Tirado's big weekend concluded with an average of 22.5 points per game while connecting on 14 three-point shots.

The Warriors' competitive nonconference schedule continues this week with three matchups against quality opponents. Indian Hills hosts Casper College (WY) on Thursday night before hosting the five-game Bowling RV Classic Friday and Saturday. The Warriors will take on McCook Community College (NE) and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Saturday at the Hellyer Center.
