WARRIORS LOCKED IN AT NO. 8 IN NATIONAL POLL

NJCAA DI MEN'S BASKETBALL POLL - WEEK 7

Ottumwa, IA – Following an impressive showing at the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout in Mesa, AZ, the Indian Hills Men's Basketball team held steady at No. 8 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball poll. The Warriors enter the new year with a 13-4 overall record.

The Warriors posted a 2-1 record over the holiday break in Arizona at one of the premiere junior college tournaments in the nation. Indian Hills opened up the week on Monday with a 68-56 victory over New Mexico Junior College where the Warriors led by as many as 21.

In the semifinal matchup, the Warriors went blow-for-blow with top-ranked Salt Lake Community College (UT). Indian Hills held a five-point halftime lead and led by as many as 13 on the night, but fell in the closing minutes to the undefeated Bruins, 76-73.

The Warriors wrapped up the three-day event with a strong win over tournament host Mesa Community College (AZ), 88-63.

Sophomore Isaiah Marin (Phoenix, AZ/New Mexico) was selected to the All-Tournament team after leading the Warriors with 17 points and eight rebounds in the finale while averaging 10.6 points and 6.7 rebounds throughout the week.

The Warriors are ranked No. 8 in the national poll for the second consecutive week and have appeared in the top-13 in each of the six regular season polls. The top nine teams in this week's poll all remained unchaged from the previous ranking on Dec. 13.

Indian Hills returns to action this week with a pair of home contests at the Hellyer Center. The Warriors welcome Kirkwood Community College at 7:00 PM Wednesday night and open up Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play Saturday night against Southeastern Community College. The Blackhawks are currently ranked No. 17 in this week's national poll.
