WARRIORS, TROJANS SET TO CLASH WEDNESDAY

River Grove, IL – For the fifth time this season, the Indian Hills Men's Basketball team will take on a ranked opponent as the No. 15 rated Warriors travel to No. 23 Triton College (IL) on Wednesday night. The two teams will tip-off at 7:00 PM from the Collins Center.

QUICK NOTES

Indian Hills (14-5) is coming off a narrow 88-86 loss to then-No. 17 Southeastern Community College in the team's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) opener Saturday night at the Hellyer Center. The Warriors are 7-1 on the year at road/neutral sites and are 3-0 in the state of Illinois this season.

The Trojans (13-2) have won seven in a row, winning each contest by an average of 41.6 points per game, reaching 100 points four separate times.

The two teams have squared off with similar opponents throughout the year. Both the Warriors and Trojans have defeated Missouri State University-West Plains, Vincennes University (IN), and Sauk Valley Community College (IL). The two teams both competed at the Mattoon Classic in Mattoon, IL on Nov. 23 and 24. Both sides defeated Vincennes while the Warriors defeated then-No. 2 John A. Logan College (IL) 76-74, but the Trojans fell 77-74.

SERIES HISTORY

The Warriors enter Wednesday's matchup 3-0 all-time against the Trojans, but will be making its first-ever trip to River Grove. The Warriors defeated Triton 100-90 in 2019, 104-85 in 2015, and 98-54 in 1998.

Triton, winners of the 2017-18 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DII Men's Basketball Championship, switched to the Division I level in the 2018-19 season. Since joining the DI ranks, the Trojans have gone 89-17 overall and have reached two district championship games.

SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE

The Warriors enter Wednesday's matchup with the fifth-lowest opponent field goal percentage on the year at a 36.2 clip. Triton heads into the clash with the seventh-best field goal percentage in the nation at 52.9 percent.

Indian Hills' defense has been a focal point of the program this year and is allowing just 65.1 points per game, but the Trojans boast the ninth-best scoring average in the NJCAA this year at 93.6 points per contest.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

The Warriors welcomed back sophomore Taj Anderson (Queens, NY/Quality Education) on Saturday after missing seven games due to injury. Anderson scored 11 points and rallied the Warriors late with a series of clutch three-point shots. Freshman Eddiean Tirado (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Miami Triple Threat) scored a game-high 17 points and now ranks fourth nationally with 58 made three-point shots on the year.

The Trojans have been powered by sophomore guard Teonta McKeithen who leads the team with 14.2 points per game. McKeithen has hit double-figures in five consecutive games and has gone for 20-plus points four times in his last seven contests, including a season-best 33 points against Oakton Community College (IL) on Dec. 21.
