HADLEY NAMED ICCAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore J'Vonne Hadley (St. Paul, MN/Northeastern) of the Indian Hills Men's Basketball team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Basketball Player of the Year.

In his first season as a Warrior, Hadley led Indian Hills to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Championship and a berth in the upcoming NJCAA North Central District Championship. The Warriors currently boast a 26-5 overall record along with a 12-game winning streak.

"J'Vonne is very deserving of this recognition," stated head coach Hank Plona. "He has been our leader by example from the start. He is the first guy in the gym every single day. His commitment to our team and our goals has driven us to the success that we have had as a team."

Hadley claimed four ICCAC DI Athlete of the Week honors for the Warriors, all coming within a six-week stretch, including three in a row from Jan. 18 – Feb. 1. The sophomore took over in the second half of the season, a key reason for the Warriors' 12 consecutive wins.

Hadley currently ranks second on the team with 10.8 points per game while shooting 53.8 percent from the field. Hadley leads the team with 6.1 rebounds per contest and has added 2.2 assists per game.

The sophomore reached double-figures in 16 games this year, including the last 13 games of the season. Since the turn of the new year, the Warriors have gone 13-1 while Hadley has averaged 16.8 points per game while shooting 60.0 percent from the floor. Hadley totaled four games of at least 20 points, including back-to-back games with a season-best 24 points.

Hadley's exceptional play was felt on both sides of the ball as the sophomore posted three double-doubles in a four-game stretch. Hadley averaged 7.6 rebounds in the final 14 games of the year.

Plona noted Hadley's impact to the program down the stretch. "J'Vonne's production scoring and rebounding got better as the season went on and he found himself as an offensive player, but he has been the driving force behind our success from the start. I could not be happier for J'Vonne as he is extremely, extremely deserving of this award and he is an All-American in every sense of the phrase."

For his efforts, Hadley was also recognized as an NJCAA All-Region XI First-Team selection.

The Warriors will host the winner of NJCAA Region XIII's Dawson Community College (MT) and North Dakota State College of Science for the NJCAA North Central District Championship and an automatic berth to the upcoming national tournament in Hutchinson, KS March 14-19.
