West Burlington, IA – A second half surge powered No. 16 Indian Hills Basketball to its fourth-straight road win at Southeastern Community College with a 70-56 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) victory on Saturday night. The Warriors move to 14-4 overall and 2-0 in league play this year.
The Warriors outscored the Blackhawks 36-21 in the second half to run away with the team's second consecutive conference win. Four players scored in double-figures in the victory, led by sophomore Trevion LaBeaux's (Waterloo, IA/Ames) seventh double-double of the year.
As a team, the Warriors used a 49-26 rebounding advantage, including a 19-6 offensive rebounding edge to dominate the Blackhawks on the glass. Southeastern entered Saturday's affair ranked eighth in the country with 46.0 rebounds/game.
LaBeaux powered the Warriors with 17 points and 14 rebounds as the sophomore corralled a double-double with more than 15 minutes remaining in the second half. Sophomore Chris Mpaka (Kinsasha, Congo/Frank Phillips) added a double-double of his own with 10 points on 4-6 shooting to go along with 14 rebounds in the win. Davontae Hall (Chicago, IL/Hyde Park) tallied 13 points for the Warriors while Braden Sparks (Villa Rica, GA/Mercer) chipped in 10 points.

After connecting on just 4-14 three-point shots in the first half, the Warriors made the most of their opportunities from deep in the second half, connecting on 5-9 attempts from deep while limiting the Blackhawks to 2-8 from beyond the arc over the final 20 minutes. The Indian Hills defense limited Southeastern to just 4-16 from three-point range overall and 36.2 percent from the floor in the game.
The Warriors used a quick start to Saturday night's contest to hold a marginal lead over the Blackhawks through the early goings of the longstanding rivalry between the two squads separated by just 78 miles. Southeastern grabbed a quick 17-16 lead in the opening frame, but the Warriors used a pair of three-point shots from Sparks to pull away and take a 34-31 at the halftime intermission.
Indian Hills scored the first five points of the second half, but the Blackhawks stayed within striking distance. A three from Sparks and a trey from David Hermes (Stockholm, Sweden/Central Pointe) put the Warriors ahead by double-digits, a lead the Warriors never relinquished to give Indian Hills its fourth consecutive win at Loren Walker Arena.
Indian Hills' four-game road trip continues with a January 24 matchup at Kankakee Community College in Kankakee, IL at 7:30 PM.
