NO. 14 WARRIORS HANDLE CARL SANDBURG AT HOME

Ottumwa, IA – All 14 members of the No. 14 Indian Hills Men's Basketball team reached the scoring column on Saturday night to power the Warriors past visiting Carl Sandburg College (IL) 100-52 at the Hellyer Center. Indian Hills hit the century mark for the second time this season.

The Warriors outscored the Chargers by 29 points in the second half to run away with the non-league matchup. Indian Hills, ranked No. 14 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball poll, moves to 16-4 overall on the year and have now won four consecutive contests.

Six players reached double-figures in the balanced scoring attack, led by freshman William Beugre-Kassi's (Pontoise, France/Albert Thomas) 14 points. Sophomore Chris Mpaka (Kinsasha, Congo/Frank Phillips) collected his second double-double in the team's last three games, and third of the year with 10 points and a team-high 13 rebounds.

11 different players connected on at least half of their field goal attempts on the night as the Warriors shot a stifling 60.0 percent (42-70) from the floor, a new season-high for head coach Josh Sash's club. As a team, the Warriors connected on 42.3 percent (11-26) of their three-point shots, the second-best mark of the year.

Sophomore Trevion LaBeaux (Waterloo, IA/Ames), this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week, added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Warriors while sophomore TJ Morris (Queens, NY/Northeastern Oklahoma A&M) added 11 points on 5-7 shooting to go along with a team-high five assists. Davontae Hall (Chicago, IL/Hyde Park) chipped in 10 points, four assists, and four steals and David Hermes (Stockholm, Sweden/Central Pointe) knocked down a pair of three-point shots to finish with 10 points.  

The Warriors dominated the glass on both ends Saturday night with a 47-18 total differential, including a 16-6 edge on the offensive front. During the team's four-game win streak, the Warriors have outrebounded their opponents by an average of 21.0 rebounds per game, a difference of 84 boards during the last four contests.

Playing in its first home contest at the Hellyer Center in exactly three weeks, the Warriors came out strong in front of its own crowd. Kassi provided a pair of early dunks to give the Warriors a quick lead over the Chargers. A three from Braden Sparks (Villa Rica, GA/Mercer) pushed the lead to double-digits, 20-8 with 11:12 to play in the opening half. Kassi added five consecutive points down the stretch and finished the opening frame with nine points to give Indian Hills a comfortable 44-25 lead heading into the locker room.

Indian Hills continued its run to start the second half and pushed the lead to 20 on a Kassi-to-Mpaka layup. The Warriors hit the 50-point mark at the 14:38, scoring their final 50 points of the game over the last quarter of the contest, including a 25-9 run over the final 6:41 of action.

The Warriors' offensive success saw a season-high in the distribution column, totaling 26 assists on the night as 11 different players provided a helper at the Hellyer Center.

Saturday night's contest served as part of the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week, in collaboration with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the American Cancer Society where the Indian Hills Men's Basketball staff donned suits and sneakers on the sidelines.

Indian Hills returns to action Wednesday night in a key non-conference matchup against nationally ranked Triton College (IL) in River Grove, IL at 7:00 PM. The Trojans topped Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) member Southeastern Community College by 23 on Saturday.
