2025 NJCAA HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

Charlotte, NC – Former Indian Hills Men's Basketball standout Pete Mickeal has been inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Foundation Hall of Fame, announced by the national office Friday afternoon.

Mickeal joins the prestigious Hall of Fame as part of the association's fifth annual class. A two-time national champion, Mickeal will forever be enshrined in the Hall of Fame with the likes of Bob McAdoo, Sheryl Swoopes, Shawn Marion, Nolan Richardson, and more.

Mickeal cemented himself as one of the all-time great junior college men's basketball players following a remarkable two-year run with the Warriors. From 1996-98, Mickeal led the Warriors to a 76-1 overall record, including a 38-0 mark in his final season, and two NJCAA DI Men's Basketball National Championships. Mickeal garnered NJCAA All-American honors as a sophomore and was selected as the 1998 NJCAA National Player of the Year.

After leading the Warriors to the 1998 national title, Mickeal was tapped as the William B. French Most Outstanding Player at the National Tournament.

More than 20 years following the completion of his Indian Hills playing career, Mickeal still ranks second all-time in school history in single season (833) and career (1,392) points. Mickeal ranks in the top-five in 12 different statistical categories at Indian Hills.

Following his time with the Warriors, Mickeal transferred to the University of Cincinnati where he earned AP All-American honors as a senior. Upon completion of his collegiate career, Mickeal was selected in the second round of the 2000 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks.

Mickeal carved out an impressive 17-year professional career that spanned the globe, including stops in the American Basketball Association (ABA), Asia, Europe, and Latin America.

Mickeal has previously been inducted into the Indian Hills Athletics Hall of Fame (2012), the NJCAA Men's Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame (2018), the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Hall of Fame (2024).

Along with Mickeal, this year's class includes Olympic gold medalist Jim Craig, Michael Pantalione, Nat Moore, and Dot Murphy.

Mickeal will officially be inducted at the 2025 NJCAA Hall of Fame and Awards event Tuesday, June 17 in Charlotte, NC

Designed to tell the story of the NJCAA, the NJCAA Hall of Fame honors individuals who have paved the way for opportunities at the two-year level – athletically and professionally, and those who have been pioneers throughout the history of the Association. Inductees in the Hall of Fame include administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and meritorious contributors and influencers.
