Warriors Blank Iowa Lakes on Puchella's Goal

Ottumwa -- Sam Puchella scored a first-half goal and IHCC goalkeeper Colton Mihalovich made it stand up as the Warriors avenged an earlier loss to Iowa Lakes, shutting out the Lakers 1-0 at the IHCC field on Wednesday.

The win, coming on the heels of a 3-1 victory against Scott CC last Saturday, gave the Warriors their first winning streak of the season.

The goal by Puchella came late in the first half when he took a pass from Jesse Stufflebeem and beat ILCC goalkeeper Richard Nolasco.

Mihalovich stopped all seven Lakers' shots on goal in notching his first shutout of the season.

The Warriors' Jonathan Silva had a team-high five shots.

With the win, Indian Hills improves to 4-11 for the season and is 2-8 in the conference. They face a tough league road test on Saturday, traveling to take on Marshalltown CC, a national tournament qualifier last year.
