IHCC Men Pummel Scott 9-0

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills broke away from a 2-0 halftime lead with seven goals in the second half, three of them by Akean Shackleford, to dispose of Scott CC, 9-0, on Sophomore Day on Saturday.

Shackleford had his third hat trick of the season and increased his goals total to 21 by scoring the first three goals of the final half for the Warriors, who won their 10th game in 15 contests.

Ackeil Brown broke a scoreless tie in the opening half with his first goal of the season to give IHCC the lead. Joao Silvia Lima added a score late in the first half, also his initial goal of the year, to give Indian Hills a 2-0 advantage at intermission.

Shackleford went to work at the outset of the second half and his offensive outburst was followed by goals by Leandro Oshiro, Saliou Kouyate, Pedro Campos and Stephen Oduro as the Warriors buried the visitors, who were outshot, 31-3.

Gabriel Ivlev started in goal for IHCC and gave way to Ricardo Haro for the final 15 minutes and Haro preserved the shutout.

"It was a great performance on Sophomore Day from our team," said IHCC coach Jon Fridal. "I'm very proud of all the hard work and dedication of our sophomores over the last two years."

Indian Hills now prepares for a Tuesday visit by Iowa Western as the Warriors look to avenge an earlier 3-0 loss to the Reivers. The match will start at 1:30 at the IHCC field.
