Warriors Fall in Double OT

Ottumwa -- Four days after the Indian Hills men's soccer team claimed a 1-0 double-overtime victory against Iowa Central, the visiting Tritons turned the tables on the Warriors and dealt them a heartbreaking two-overtime loss on Wednesday in the opening round of the postseason conference tournament.

Aaron Davis's shot with under 4 1/2 minutes remaining in the second overtime session found the back of the net and Iowa Central escaped with a 2-1 win that earned them a place in this weekend's tourney semifinals opposite Iowa Western.

Shots were at a premium throughout the tense battle on the IHCC pitch with each team held to only seven. After Iowa Central took a 1-0 lead Indian Hills' Gabriel Quartarone picked a great time to get his first goal of the fall, scoring off a corner kick to tie the score at one. Quartarone's score came early in the second half and the game remained tied though the rest of regulation and the first 10-minute overtime period.

The loss ends the season for the 11-7 Warriors, who recorded the most wins in a single season in program history and nearly doubled last year's total of six victories. They had nearly twice as many goals also, scoring 55 this year compared to 29 the year before. Freshman Akean Shackleford led the Warriors with 22 goals.
