MEN'S SOCCER SET FOR POSTSEASON PLAY

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Soccer team will play as the No. 5 seed in the upcoming National Junior College Athletic Conference (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer Region XI Tournament. The tournament opens up play Sunday, Oct. 24.

The Warriors closed out Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play with a 1-6-1 record after a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory vs. Iowa Central Community College on Saturday. The two teams will now square off in the opening round on Sunday after the Tritons earned the No. 4 overall seed. Game time is set for 2:00 PM at Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge, IA.

The two sides split the regular season series with both teams winning on the road. Iowa Central won the opening match in Ottumwa 3-1 on Oct. 2 before the Warriors' overtime win on Oct. 16. Both teams scored 40 goals on the season while the Warriors allowed just 29 goals compared to the Tritons' 40.

The Warriors enter the tournament with the conference's third-leading scorer in Pablo Marques (João Pessoa, Brazil/Colégio Meta) who has tallied 29 points on the year. Marques is tied for first in the league with 12 goals on the season. On the defensive end, freshman keeper Matteo Scarduzio (San Secondo Parmense, Italy/Fabio Bocchialini) leads the league with 57 saves on the year for the Warriors.

No. 2 nationally ranked Iowa Western Community College earned the top overall seed and will host the winner of the Indian Hills and Iowa Central matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 27. Iowa Lakes Community College earned the No. 2 seed and will host No. 3 seed Marshalltown Community College on Oct. 27. The championship match is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 31 at the highest remaining seed.

The winner of the region tournament advances to the NJCAA Midwest District Tournament and will host the winners from Region 4, Region 16, and Region 24 Nov. 5-7 for a chance to advance to the national tournament in Tyler, TX Nov. 15-20.
