IHCC Places Five On All-Region Softball Squad

OTTUMWA --- Indian Hills Community College had two players on the first team and three on the second team on the All-Region 11 softball squads.

The first-team picks were sophomore third baseman Paige Schreiner and freshman outfielder Lindsay Moore. Sophomore pitcher Kendle Schieber and a pair of freshmen, second baseman Emma Rickels and outfielder Chelsea Griffiths, were chosen for the second team.

Schreiner, who transferred to IHCC from Indiana State, is one of two Ottumwa High School graduates - Griffiths is the other - on the all-region teams. Schreiner hit .291 with six doubles, a homer and 14 RBIs for the Warriors.

Moore, from Eldon and a product of the Cardinal High School program, led Indian Hills with a .371 batting average. She slugged six homers, drove in 30 runs and scored 26.

Schieber is from Conception Junction, Mo. and was a second-team all-region selection as a pitcher for the second straight year. This past season she hit. 364 with a team-best nine homers and 42 RBIs, tied for second in the region. She also had 12 pitching victories as a sophomore and a total of 25 over two seasons.

Rickels, who is from Solon, hit .252 with a homer and 16 RBIs while holding down the regular second base job.

Griffiths compiled a .347 average with 14 runs and nine RBIs and earned a starting outfield spot with her play.
