Brown, Dubois Softball All-Region Selections

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills sophomore Emily Brown and freshman Shyanne Dubois were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region second team for the Midwest Region.

The pair of IHCC standouts were among the 94 softball players representing 46 programs to receive the 2016 NFCA All-Region accolades for NJCAA Divsion I schools.

Brown, from Waverly, Iowa, put together one of the top power seasons in IHCC history, slugging 16 homers, including three in one game against conference foe Southeastern CC, a feat that had never been done previously at Indian Hills. Her home run total is tied for 6th for a single season and the 19 she hit in her career is tied for 8th all-time. Brown, a two-year starter as the Indian Hills catcher, hit .409 as a sophomore with 17 doubles and one triple, in addition to her home run total of 16. She compiled a .756 slugging percentage and had 79 hits and 57 runs scored.

Dubois put up some gaudy numbers during her initial season of college softball. She batted .425 with 22 doubles, three triples and nine homers. The Carlisle High School product collected a team-high 96 hits and led the Warriors with 67 runs. She also topped the team in doubles (22), at-bats (226), total bases (151) and stolen bases, stealing 32 in 34 attempts, and tied for the lead with her three triples, while playing in all 60 games.

NFCA member coaches from each region voted on the All-Region teams, and all of the honorees are now eligible to be picked for the NFCA All-American squads which will be announced on June 8.
