Joplin, Missouri -- Indian Hills ended an 8-game road trip with four games in the Crowder Bash over the weekend, winning all four contests and outscoring their foes, 31-10.
The Warriors started with a 6-3 win against Johnson County (Kans.) on Saturday, scoring four times in the 4th to erase a 3-2 deficit. Cheyanne Bergert was the hitting star going 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Erin Kuba scored half of IHCC's six runs. Indian Hills used three pitchers -- Carlyn Stanley started and went four innings; Tia Kohl tossed a scoreless inning striking out two; and Olivia Goodale came on in relief and nailed down the win with two shutout innings and a strikeout.
Leadoff hitter Taylor Jones sparked a 5-0 blanking of Murray State (Okla.) later in the day. Jones had three hits and stole two bases. Alexis Westercamp also had a three-hit game that included a home run and Helaina Johnson homered and drove in two runs. Bergert scored twice. Abby Straight threw a three-hit shutout, walking three and fanning five.
Indian Hills put up a pair of 10-run games on Sunday, routing Mineral Area (Mo.), 10-2, and Three Rivers (Mo.), 10-5, to push their season record to 16-5. Erin Kuba had her second two-homer game of the trip against Mineral Area, adding a single and a double and driving in six runs. Kuba has seven round-trippers already this season. Vanessa Bakley also homered and had two hits. Jones scored three runs and Taylor DuBois two. Freshman Tia Kohl pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits and striking out four.
