IHCC Wipes Out Storm JV

Indianola, Iowa -- The Indian Hills softball ran its winning streak to 12 in a row with a sweep of the Simpson College JV on Friday, the Warriors blanking the Storm, 8-0 and 15-0.

Indian Hills, after not pitching a shutout in the first 19 games of this season, has 11 whitewashings in the last 26 games and has improved its season record to 29-16.

Three runs in the top of the 1st inning got the Warriors off to a fast start in game one.  They nailed down the victory with a 4-run 5th.  Alexis Westercamp slammed her 8th homer, part of a 3-for-3 performance by the sophomore who scored twice and knocked in three runs.  The homer put IHCC's season total at 66, the third-most HRs in school history.

Brooke Snider scored two runs and Brittni Lloyd stole a pair of bases in the Warriors' 19th win in its last 21 games.  Alexis Groet fired another shutout, her 7th of the spring, with only one hit allowed and 10 strikeouts.

Another big first inning in the nightcap (five runs) led to the IHCC rout.  The Warriors added two runs in the 3rd, then put the finishing touches on their day with seven runs in the 7th.  Nina Hendriks started in the circle and went four innings before giving way to Jakala Hall who completed the shutout.  Lloyd stole three more bases, pusing her season mark to 39, in 40 attempts.  IHCC had two-hit games from Chloe Olson, Westercamp, Vanessa Bakley and Abby Sweet.  Lloyd, Snider, Olson, Westercamp, Bakley and Jordan Hollon all scored twice and Snider, Westercamp, Bakley and Sweet each had two RBIs. 

On Wednesday, Indian Hills begins a busy stretch of four doubleheaders in five days when they play a pair at Southeastern.  They are at Iowa Lakes on Thursday, then host Iowa Western and Marshalltown for the weekend.
