Houston, TX – The Indian Hills Softball team dropped a pair of games to open the 2022 season at No. 8 nationally ranked San Jacinto College (TX) on Friday. The Warriors fell in Game 1 3-1 and dropped the nightcap 8-0.

The Warriors were sparked in the opener by freshman Destiny Lewis (Indianola, IA/Indianola) who connected on a solo home run in the top of the first inning. The offense stalled the rest of the way as TJ Stoaks (Lenox, IA/Lenox) recorded the only other hit of the night for Indian Hills. Margot van Eijl (Oosterhout, Netherlands/Calandlyceum) struck out two batters and allowed just three hits in 3.1 innings of work, but took the loss.

Indian Hills totaled four hits Game 2, with two coming from freshman Yanna Roberts (Davenport, IA/Davenport North). Roberts recorded two singles and a stolen base, but the Warriors left seven runners stranded in the loss. Lewis added another hit in the second game for the Warriors.

The Warriors are back in action Saturday afternoon at Galveston College (TX) for a doubleheader set to begin at 2:00 PM.
