Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) opened up her collegiate career in dominant fashion and has been named this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week.

Anderson powered the Warriors during its nine-game Texas road trip to open up the season. The freshman posted a .419 batting average to go along with a .935 slugging percentage to pick up the weekly conference honors. Anderson totaled 13 hits, including eight extra base hits with four home runs. The first baseman scored seven times and drove in 12 runs during the stretch.

Anderson collected a hit in seven of the team's nine games in Texas, including five games with at least two hits. In a 6-3 win over Tyler, Anderson went 3-4 with a double and a home run to lead the Warriors to the victory.

In a doubleheader sweep of Alvin, Anderson totaled four hits, three going for extra bases, and five total RBI.

The weekly honor adds to Anderson's freshman resume as the two-sport standout was also named the ICCAC Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week in the fall.

Anderson and the Warriors are back in action on Friday, March 11 to begin a four-game series with Seminole State College (OK) in Seminole, OK.
