Ottumwa, IA – Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Softball Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. Anderson powered the Warriors to five wins last week.
In six games last week for Anderson, the freshman produced a .435 batting average after going 10-23 at the plate. Anderson connected on five home runs and a pair of doubles while driving in 14 runs. Anderson recorded multi-hit games in four of the team's six contests.
Anderson's most impressive series came in a doubleheader against Southwestern Community College where the freshman went 5-9 with two home runs in each game of the conference doubleheader. Anderson drove in a total of 11 RBI on the day while scoring five runs.
Anderson also added a home run against Iowa Western on April 16 and finished the ICCAC doubleheader with three hits and three RBI.
After two more home runs on Tuesday at Marshalltown, Anderson is tied for fourth in the nation with teammate Destiny Lewis (Indianola, IA/Indianola) with 21 home runs. Anderson's team-high 60 RBI ranks 10th in the nation while her 1.083 slugging percentage ranks seventh overall.
Originally scheduled for a Wednesday doubleheader between Marshalltown, Indian Hills has pushed back the ICCAC series to Thursday due to rain in the Ottumwa area on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.
