Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Madie Anderson (Mt. Pleasant, IA/Winfield Mt. Union) of the Indian Hills Softball team has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI DI Softball Pitcher of the Year, announced by the the conference office on Wednesday. Anderson has also been named to the NJCAA All-Region XI First-Team.
Anderson becomes the fourth Warrior to earn Pitcher of the Year honors since 2017, joining Alexis Groet (2019), Carlyn Standley (2018), and Olivia Goodale (2017). Anderson, who was one of 12 individuals named to the NJCAA All-Region XI team, joins teammates Destiny Lewis (Player of the Year) and Sydney Anderson (Offensive Player of the Year), and head coach Lindsay Diehl to earn individual postseason awards.
Anderson led the Warriors to its most team wins since 2006 after posting a team-high 17 wins in the circle. Anderson tossed seven complete games on the year, including three shutouts. The freshman pitched a team-high 105.0 innings on the year and posted a 2.20 earned run average. Anderson struck out a team-high 129 batters while issuing just 33 walks.
The freshman was the winning pitcher in the NJCAA Region XI Championship game after tossing a complete game shutout to upend Southeastern Community College and advance to the NJCAA Midwest District Tournament. Anderson also tossed a complete game shutout in a 2-0 win over Rock Valley Community College on April 22.
On the year, Anderson was twice named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Pitcher of the Week.
Along with Anderson's honor, the Warriors also took home the Player of the Year (Destiny Lewis), Offensive Player of the Year (Sydney Anderson), and Coach of the Year in Lindsay Diehl.

Anderson and the Warriors are set to host the NJCAA Midwest District Tournament at R.L. Hellyer Field on May 14 against Crowder College (MO). The best-of-three series gets underway at 2:00 PM Saturday with a doubleheader and an if necessary game on Sunday, May 15.
