ANDERSON NO-HITS REIVERS IN SWEEP

Council Bluffs, IA – Behind a no-hitter from sophomore Madie Anderson (Mt. Pleasant, IA/Winfield Mt. Union), the Indian Hills Softball squad swept conference foe Iowa Western Community College on Friday afternoon. The Warriors took game one 7-0 and game two 8-4 to improve to 12-6 on the year.

Anderson tossed her first-career no-hitter in the opener of this weekend's four-game Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) series as the sophomore allowed just three baserunners on the day. Anderson struck out five batters in the seven-inning complete game masterpiece.

The opening game saw the Warrior offense provide Anderson with a 2-0 lead in the opening frame after freshman Claire Tipton (Unionville, MO/Putnam County) delivered a two-run home run for the initial runs. Freshman Tatum Aragon (Fort Collins, CO/Fort Collins) extended the lead to 3-0 in the third with a solo home run while Anderson held the Reivers scoreless in the early goings.

An RBI double in the sixth from Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) pushed the lead to 4-0 before a two-run double in the seventh from Tipton capped the scoring for the Warriors. A flawless seventh in the circle from Anderson preserved the no-hitter as Indian Hills picked up its first league win of the year.

Aragon, Tipton, and Jenna Lemley (Troy Mills, IA/North Linn) each tallied two hits as the Warriors collected 10 total knocks as a team.

The nightcap saw a scoreless affair for the first three and a half innings before Iowa Western plated two runs in the bottom half of the fourth to stake the initial lead. Indian Hills responded immediately in the top of the fifth as TJ Stoaks (Lenox, IA/Lenox) connected on her first-career home run, a two-run shot to tie the game.

The Warriors broke the game open in the fifth with three runs, including another RBI knock from Stoaks. A pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth from Iowa Western pulled the Reivers within one, but a solo home run from Destiny Lewis (Indianola, IA/Indianola) and a two-run double from Hannah Simpson (Fairfield, IA/Fairfield) put the game out of reach in the seventh as The Banning (Winterset, IA/Winterset) tossed a scoreless frame to give the Warriors the sweep.

Indian Hills pounded out 13 hits in the win, including three from Simpson and a pair each from Stoaks, Aragon, Tipton, Lewis, and Lemley.

Freshman Sara Reid (Central City, IA/Central City) earned the win in the circle to move to 3-0. Reid struck out four in five innings of work while Banning earned the save.

The two teams resume conference play Saturday afternoon at Reiver Field in Council Bluffs, IA.
