LEWIS HITS FOR CYCLE, WARRIORS SWEEP

Iowa Falls, IA – The Indian Hills Softball team picked up a pair of road wins on Thursday afternoon to extend its winning streak to 15 games. The Warriors defeated Ellsworth Community College 20-5 and 13-4.

Sophomore Destiny Lewis (Indianola, IA/Indianola) collected seven hits on the day while going for the cycle in the opening game with a double, triple, and home run. Lewis added a home run and a double in the nightcap to push her season batting average to .444 on the year. The sophomore also added eight runs scored on the day.

The 20 runs and 20 hits in the game one victory for the Warriors are both season-highs. Indian Hills added nine base knocks in the game two win. On the day, the Warriors totaled six home runs from five different players.

Indian Hills put the opening game out of reach early with 13 runs in the first frame as the Warriors batted through the order. Indian Hills added a run in the second and five more in the fourth before closing out the game with a run in the fifth to give the Warrior pitching staff plenty of cushion.

Sophomore TJ Stoaks (Lenox, IA/Lenox) worked three innings of relief to move to 2-0 in the circle this year. Stoaks allowed just one base hit.

Along with Lewis' cycle in the opener, Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) and Tatum Aragon (Fort Collings, CO/Fort Collins) each collected four hits with three runs scored and a pair of RBI. Sophomore Sydney McNeeley (Pleasant Hill, IA/Southeast Polk) went 2-3 at the plate with a career-high four RBI.

The Warriors spread out the scoring in game two with multiple runs in four of the five innings to secure the win. Four individuals collected multi-hit games – Lewis, Claire Tipton (Unionville, MO/Putnam County), Julia Kwakernaak (The Hague, Netherlands/Segbroek College), and Jensyn Jones (Swisher, IA/Cedar Rapids Prairie). Kwakernaak and Jones both tallied home runs for the Warriors.

Freshman Sara Reid (Central City, IA/Central City) took the win in the circle with a complete game effort. Reid moves to 4-0 on the year.

As a team, the Warriors currently rank 12th in the nation with a 2.10 earned run average.
