SOFTBALL TAKES TWO MORE FROM NCMC
Ottumwa, IA – Indian Hills Softball outscored North Central Missouri College 23-4 on Monday afternoon to sweep the Pirates in non-league action at R.L. Hellyer Field. The Warriors move to 29-7 on the year.
 
The Warriors, receiving votes in this week's national poll, won their fifth consecutive contest with the sweep and picked up the team's 13th run-rule victory of the year with the game two win. With the sweep on Monday, Indian Hills took all four contest in this year's series with the Pirates, outscoring North Central Missouri 42-5.
 
Indian Hills tallied 21 total hits on the afternoon as four different players connected on hone runs on the Warriors' home turf. Freshman Hannah Simpson (Fairfield, IA/Fairfield) tallied four hits, four RBI and four runs on the afternoon.
 
Simpson drove in the game's first run of the day in the opener with an RBI single to drive in Claire Tipton (Unionville, MO/Putnam County). Destiny Lewis (Indianola, IA/Indianola) opened the floodgates in the third inning with a two-run home run before a three-run double from freshman Jill Smith (Walker, IA/North Linn) put the game out of reach in the same frame.
 
Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) and Simpson added RBI singles down the stretch as the Warriors came out on top in the opener.
 
Sophomore Madie Anderson (Mt. Pleasant, IA/Winfield Mt. Union) tossed four innings of scoreless ball to pick up the win, her 10th of the season. In 11 innings of action against the Pirates this year, Anderson allowed just one hit after tossing a no-hitter in Trenton, MO earlier this season. TJ Stoaks (Lenox, IA/Lenox) added three innings of relief with three strikeouts.
 
Indian Hills carried its momentum into game two with six runs in the opening frame. Tatum Aragon (Fort Collins, CO/Fort Collins), Jenna Lemley (Troy Mills, IA/North Linn), and Stoaks all added RBI base hits to help the Warriors pull away. Simpson added a solo home run to extend the lead in the second before Indian Hills tacked on seven more runs in the third, including run-scoring doubles from Lewis and Simpson. 
 
Sydney Anderson and Abby Martin (Lamoni, IA/Lamoni) closed out the scoring with home runs in the third and fourth frames, respectively. 
 
Eva Fulk (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny) added two hits, two runs, and two RBI in the nightcap and finished the day with a pair of stolen bases to extend her team-lead to 13 on the year.
 
Sara Reid (Central City, IA/Central City) improved to 5-0 in the circle with one hit allowed in three innings of work while striking out four batters.
 
Indian Hills hits the road for a conference doubleheader at Southeastern Community College Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
