ANDERSON, REID COLLECT ICCAC HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Indian Hills Softball took home the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Pitcher and Player of the Week awards after another strong stretch of play on the diamond last week.

Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) and Sara Reid (Central City, IA/Central) swept the weekly conference honors after helping the Warriors to a 6-0 record last week. Indian Hills has now collected six ICCAC Pitcher of the Week awards and six ICCAC Player of the Week honors.

Anderson, a returning National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American, has been on a tear as of late. The sophomore is currently riding a 12-game hitting streak after going 12-20 (.600) at the plate last week. Anderson, who tied the single season school record for home runs last year, connected on four last week to reach the 40-home run milestone for her career. Anderson becomes just the second player in program history to hit at least 40 home runs in their career.

Anderson posted a number of impressive performances last week, including a 4-4 effort with six RBI against Southwestern Community College. During the four-game series against the Spartans, Anderson went 9-14 with eight RBI and seven runs scored. Anderson also posted a 3-4 effort with two home runs and five RBI on the road against conference foe Southeastern Community College.

On the year, Anderson is hitting .373 with 56 RBI and 12 home runs.

In the circle, Reid picked up a pair of wins last week without allowing an earned run to become the third different Warrior to earn ICCAC Pitcher of the Week honors this year. The freshman tossed three scoreless frames against both North Central Missouri College and at Southwestern to pick up two wins.

Reid is now 6-1 on the year in 46.1 innings of action.

Indian Hills is set to host Southeastern for a four-game conference series at R.L. Hellyer Field in Ottumwa to close out the regular season. The two sides are set to open play at 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon.
