DIEHL NAMED COACH OF THE YEAR FOR 4TH TIME

Ottumwa, IA – For the fourth consecutive season, Indian Hills Softball Head Coach Lindsay Diehl has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Coach of the Year. Diehl led the Warriors to the program's eighth consecutive region title.

Diehl led the Warriors to a 43-7 overall record and the program's first undefeated ICCAC record since 2005 with an 18-0 mark. Indian Hills swept through the four-team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Softball Region 11 Championship to claim the program's eighth straight tip to the district tournament.

Under Diehl, the Warriors saw two impressive winning streaks throughout the year, a 17-game stretch from March 20 through April 10 and the Warriors' current streak of 19 games heading into the District tournament. Indian Hills also sported a 19-1 home record at R.L. Hellyer Field. In Diehl's five seasons at the helm of the program, the Warriors are 86-13 at home.

The 2023 program saw 12 individuals earn National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region 11 honors, including a program record nine first-team selections. The Warriors produced one of the top offensive performances in the school history. The team's current .375 batting average ranks fourth all-time while the 101 home runs on the year are also fourth-most in school history.

With the 43 wins o the year, Diehl now owns a career 182-55 (.768) winning percentage, the third-highest winning percentage in school history.

As a program, the Warriors have collected six consecutive ICCAC Coach of the Year awards.

Along with Diehl's honor, sophomore Destiny Lewis (Indianola, IA/Indianola) became the second consecutive ICCAC Player of the Year, Madie Anderson (Mt. Pleasant, IA/Winfield Mt. Union) was named the ICCAC Pitcher of the Year for the second consecutive season, and Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) was named the ICCAC Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight year. In total, 12 members of the Indian Hills Softball team earned All-Region XI honors.

Diehl and the Warriors are set to travel to the NJCAA Midwest District Tournament May 13-14 in Neosho, MO as Indian Hills will take on Crowder College (MO), winners of the NJCAA Region 16 Tournament. The best-of-three series gets underway at 1:00 PM Saturday with a doubleheader and an if necessary game on Sunday.
