WARRIORS ROLL PAST TIGERS IN HOME OPENER

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Softball team made its home debut in dominant fashion on Tuesday afternoon, picking up the team's first two Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) victories with a sweep of Marshalltown Community College at R.L. Hellyer Field.

The Warriors ran past the Marshalltown 10-1 in the opener before routing the Tigers in the nightcap 30-2. The 30 runs scored in game two are the most in a single contest for the Warriors since defeating Spoon River College (IL) 34-0 in 2000 while the 28-run margin of victory is the largest since defeating Dakota College at Bottineau (ND) 29-0 in 2022. Indian Hills is now 38-0 vs. the Tigers dating back to the 2012 season.

The Warriors powered past the Tigers with an offensive outburst combined with two dominant pitching performances. Sophomore Sara Reid (Central City, IA/Central City) secured the win in game one while freshman Ashlynn Sheets (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa), this week's ICCAC Athlete of the Week, picked up her third consecutive victory in game two to improve to 7-4 on the year.

Marshalltown struck first with a run in the top half of the first in the opening contest, but a three-run home run from Claire Tipton (Unionville, MO/Putnam County), the first of the season for the sophomore sparked the Warriors. Indian Hills added six runs in the second inning and another in the fourth to pick up the win in the team's ICCAC opener.

All nine Warriors in the batting order collected a hit as Tipton collected a game-high four RBI. Eva Fulk (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny) and Courtney Locke (Bow, WA/Burlington-Edison) added two hits apiece for the Warriors. Reid was impressive in the circle with a career-high 11 punchouts for the sophomore's sixth win of the season.

Sophomore Tatum Aragon (Fort Collins, CO/Fort Collins) recorded two RBI and a double in the win, the sophomore's 17th double of the year which is the most in the nation this year.

The Warrior offense erupted in game two with a season-high 18 hits. Locke finished the contest 3-4 at the dish with a season-high four RBI. Ava Smith (Waukee, IA/Waukee Northwest) provided a highlight-reel moment for the Warriors with a grand slam to deep right field as part of a nine-run second inning.

Smith finished the game with a career-performance, going 3-4 with four runs and a season-best six RBI. Freshman Raley (Arvada, CO/Arvada West) posted five RBI on a pair of hits while Tipton and Hannah Simpson (Fairfield, IA/Fairfield) each tallied four RBI,

Sheets scattered six hits without allowing an earned run in the victory as the freshman lowered her season earned run average to 2.02.

The Warriors' homestand is set to continue Thursday afternoon with a twinbill against North Iowa Area Community College at 2:00 PM.
