Ottumwa, IA – Sophomores Alivia Ruble (Lacona, IA/Southeast Warren) and Ava Smith (Waukee, IA/Waukee Northwest) powered the Indian Hills Softball team to an afternoon sweep of Jefferson College (MO) on Sunday. For their efforts, the duo have been named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athletes of the Week.
Smith garnered ICCAC DI Softball Offensive Athlete of the Week honors while Ruble collected ICCAC DI Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades after the Warriors defeated the visiting Vikings 13-5 and 10-3 as part of the team's home opener at R.L. Hellyer Field. With the sweep, the Warriors moved to 9-11 overall on the year.
Smith starred at the plate to collect her second ICCAC weekly honor of the year. The sophomore went 5-7 in the sweep, including a 3-3 performance in the nightcap. Smith added a home run in the opener and finished the day with two RBI and two runs scored.
Smith upped her team-leading batting average to .444 on the year.
In the game two win, Ruble collected the win in the circle with four innings of work for the Warriors. The sophomore scattered six hits in the win while striking out four batters. Ruble did not issue a walk as the Warriors ran away with the victory, Ruble's third win of 2025.
The Warriors return to action Saturday afternoon with a twinbill vs. Danville Area Community College (IL) in Danville, IL.
