WARRIORS SPLIT TWINBILL WITH DANVILLE AREA

Danville, IL – The Indian Hills Softball team earned an afternoon split with Danville Area Community College (IL) on Monday afternoon. The Warriors dropped the opener 10-7 before taking game two 15-4 to move to 10-12 on the year.

The Warriors collected 22 hits in total as a team on the afternoon, including 12 in the game two victory. Nine different players produced a base knock in game two as the Warriors needed just five innings to drop the Jaguars.

In Monday's opener, sophomores Yarah Zuiver (Zaanstad, Netherlands/Roc Van Amsterdam) and Ava Smith (Waukee, IA/Waukee Northwest) tallied three hits and two RBI a piece, but the Warriors managed just four additional hits to come up short.

Game two saw the Warriors erupt for six runs in the opening frame to pull away earlier from Danville Area. Indian Hills tacked on seven runs in the top half of the fifth for the run-rule victory.

Sophomore Peyton Raley (Arvada, CO/Arvada West) and freshmen Chandler Houselog (Dubuque, IA/Dubuque Hempstead) and Emma Scully (West Des Moines, IA/Valley) all recorded multi-hit games and a pair of RBI each in the win. Freshman Mary-Paige Withers (Le Claire, IA/Pleasant Valley) added three RBI in the win for the Warriors.

Sophomore Alivia Ruble Lacona, IA/Southeast Warren) picked up the win in the circle, striking out four batters in four innings of work while freshman Hannah Carter (Bethany, MO/South Harrison) tossed a scoreless fifth inning in relief.

Next up for the Warriors is the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) opener at Iowa Western Community College on Saturday. Action from Council Bluffs, IA gets underway at 1:00 PM.
