Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Women's Golf program and head coach Michael Shedd have announced the first two signings in the history of the program. The Warriors announced Mackenzie Reeves and Bella Santesteban as the first official signees on Tuesday afternoon.

"Signing these two extraordinary young women is a groundbreaking moment for this program," stated Shedd. "I couldn't be happier with Mackenzie and Bella joining our program, and it's a testament to them to be willing to take on this opportunity to be pioneers of what I hope will be a very successful program."

Shedd, announced as the first Indian Hills Women's Golf program in June, 2023, adds two individuals as part of the program's first-ever recruiting class. Reeves hails from Rogers, AR and is a product of Rogers-Heritage High School. Santesteban joins the Warriors from Lewisville, TX and Lewisville High School.

Reeves signs with the Warriors having four years of varsity golf experience at Rogers-Heritage High School. Reeves earned top medalist honors at the Springdale Lady Wildcat Invitational in July and has posted five top-five individual finishes throughout her career. Reeves has also served as a two-year member of the leadership program Link Crew while accumulating 60 hours of community service work.

"I am incredibly excited to play on the first-ever women's golf program at Indian Hills," Reeves noted. "I'm grateful to Michael Shedd and Brett Monaghan for giving me this opportunity for us to make history, and we will continuously show excellence on the golf course as well as in the classroom over the next two years."

Santesteban joins the Warrior program with a number of accolades prior to the start of her senior season at Lewisville High School. Santesteban captured a top-10 medalist honor at the Waco Invitational and placed first, second, and third at three DFW Summer Series events. Santesteban was named the 2021-22 Most Improved Girl and the 2022-23 Farmer Girl Award recipient at Lewisville. Santesteban also captured top medalist honors at the Indian Creek Farmer Fall Fest Tournament, the third-place medalist at the LHS Invitational Tournament, and was a top-10 medalist at the RHS Sherrill Shootout. At Lewisville, Santesteban was awarded the National Honor Society Character of the Month, the Interact Club Excellence in Community Service trophy, and the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Award.

"Committing to Indian Hills is such a blessing," Santesteban stated. "When I started playing golf the summer before my freshman year, I would have never thought that I would progress enough to play in college. As a senior in my last year of high school, I knew I wasn't ready to end my golf journey here. There were still goals that I wished to accomplish, and words could not describe how grateful I am to be given the opportunity to be able to reach those goals here. I'm looking forward to improving my game not only for myself, but for my family who supported me every step of the way."

"Mackenzie shows a great deal of fire and grit to prove herself," Shedd added. "Bella has improved quickly and shows she has a lot of potential in her game still to be discovered. I believe she will be very coachable."

Shedd and the Warriors will continue to build upon its recruiting class as the program is set for its first full-year of competition beginning in the fall of 2024.

"I can't wait to see who else will be joining them as I move forward with recruiting the rest of the team."
