Ottumwa -- Sophie Woods, a freshman soccer player for Indian Hills, has been recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association for her work in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year.

Woods earned a Superior Academic Achievement Award given to those with a grade point average between 3.80 and 3.99. The NJCAA divides its academic award winners into three categories, based on GPA.

She is among 27 Indian Hills student-athletes who earned NJCAA academic awards for this past year.
