Indian Hills Women Make it 5 in a Row

Ottumwa -- The Indian Hills women's soccer team capped a very successful five-day span, and continued their impressive early-season run, with a 3-2 victory against St. Louis CC at the IHCC field on Sunday.

The win was the third in five days for the Warriors and their fifth consecutive victory to begin the season.

The goals scored by the visiting Archers were the first allowed by Indian Hills, but the Warriors used a strong defensive effort to hold on for the win.

Marta Lopez made five saves in goal for IHCC, including a big stop after St. Louis CC had closed the gap to one goal late in the second half.

Laura Hallissey started the Indian Hills scoring with a first-half tally, assisted by Hannah Mitchell. Megan McElmeel, with an assist from Hallissey, made it 2-0 later in the half.

Hallissey scored what proved to be the game-winner in the second half with Mitchell picking up the assist.

IHCC outshot SLCC, 22-9, in closing out the early part of their schedule which has seen them outscore their five opponents, 30-2.

The Warriors will be idle until hosting conference foe Iowa Central next Saturday.
