WIEMANN'S HAT TRICK LIFTS WARRIORS ON SOPHOMORE DAY

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Bailey Wiemann's (Burlington, IA/Burlington) third-career hat trick led the No. 7 Indian Hills Women's Soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Iowa Central Community College at home on Saturday. The Warriors' unbeaten record remains intact at 13-0-0 and 3-0-0 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play.

"The ladies came out ready to play and got on the board quickly," stated head coach Anthony Longo. "That's the intensity we want to see playing at home, and especially in big games."

The Warriors relied on three first half goals from Wiemann to upend the visiting Tritons at home. Wiemann's first goal came at the 12:38 mark after the sophomore corralled a loose ball in the box and buried the eventual game-winner. Just under 13 minutes later, Wiemann scored from the right side of the net on an assist from Seira Uko (Toba City, Japan/Jumonji). Wiemann then capped off her hat trick after putting home Elisabeth Plouy's (Twin Falls, ID/Twin Falls) assist from close range.

The Warrior defense clamped down on the Tritons in the second half to preserve the shutout. Freshman goalkeeper Trisha Westphal (Lockridge, IA/Fairfield) recorded her 13th win of the season and seventh shutout of her young career. Both marks are program records for the Warriors.

"Defensively, we completely shut them down today," Longo stated. "That's been one of the strongest aspects of our team lately. They are always organized and play well together."

Wiemann's efforts on Saturday added to an already impressive career resume against the Tritons. In three career matches against Iowa Central, Wiemann has now scored eight goals to go along with two assists. With the hat trick, Wiemann now leads the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in all three major scoring categories - total points (50), goals (18), and assists (14).

"Bailey was spectacular offensively today," Longo noted. "She took the ball to goal constantly and was rewarded for it. When she gets the ball on her foot and attacks defenders, she's one of the best in the country."

Prior to Saturday's match, the Warriors recognized 10 sophomores for their efforts over the course of their career. The class has now won a two-year program record 24 matches, including a perfect 14-0 at home.

"It was special to see them get this win on sophomore day. This is again another class of recruits that has not lost a regular season home game. The team plays well at home, and it's great to see them extend the streak a little longer."

The 10 Warriors recognized on Sophomore Day include Kylee Brown (Earlham, IA/Winterset-Earlham), Rachel Kaut (Pleasant Hill, IA/Southeast Polk), Georgie Lewis (Bowral, Australia/Bowral), Dalen Mueller (Williamsburg, IA/Williamsburg), Risa Ogasawara (Yokohama, Japan/Hinomoto), Chiaki Ota (Chigasaki, Japan/Ninomiya), Makayla Reed (Waverly, IA/Waverly-Shell Rock), KJ Schmidt (Cedar Rapids, IA/Washington), Hope Ward (Burlington, IA/Burlington Notre Dame), and Wiemann.

The home portion of the Warriors' schedule concludes with a perfect 9-0-0 record on the year. With the undefeated record, Longo's program has now won 36 consecutive home matches dating back to Sept. 20, 2017.

The Warriors now hit the road for a nonconference matchup at Illinois Central Community College (6-3-1) at 1:00 PM on Oct. 6.
