WARRIORS ADVANCE TO THIRD STRAIGHT TITLE GAME

Ottumwa, IA – Three second half goals propelled the No. 9 Indian Hills Women's Soccer team into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women's Soccer Region XI Championship game. The second-seeded Warriors defeated third-seeded Iowa Lakes Community College 4-2 in Tuesday's semifinal matchup.

With Tuesday's victory, the Warriors will now head to Council Bluffs, IA to take on the top-seeded Iowa Western Community College Reivers for a shot at an automatic berth to the NJCAA DI Women's Soccer Central District Championship Nov. 5. The top-two seeds will square off at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Indian Hills, ranked No. 9 in the latest national poll, ran past the Lakers Tuesday after Rachel Kaut (Pleasant Hill, IA/Southeast Polk) ignited the Warriors with a pair of goals off the bench. Kaut rifled a shot from outside the box in the 25th minute, the team's first goal of the day, and collected her second goal of the afternoon with another long-range shot in the 73rd minute to cap the scoring for the Warriors.

Sophomore Risa Ogasawara (Yokohama, Japan/Hinomoto) scored just after the halftime intermission with a shot from 20 yards out in the 47th minute and Georgie Lewis (Bowral, Australia/Bowral) followed-up with a goal in the 51st minute.

Sophomore Bailey Wiemann (Burlington, IA/Burlington) was credited with a pair of assists on the afternoon and Makayla Reed (Waverly, IA/Waverly-Shell Rock) contributed a helper of her own.

Kaut entered the match with just one goal on the year, but the sophomore put together an all-around impressive performance on the offensive front to carry the Warriors on Tuesday.

Sydney Ray Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) earned the win in net, stopping one shot for the Warriors.

Indian Hills and Iowa Western will now meet in the postseason for the seventh consecutive year with four of those previous contests coming in the region championship. Four of the past six matchups have been decided by one goal, with each going to the Reivers. The two teams split the regular season series in 2021, with both teams winning at home.

Saturday's championship match can be seen live via the Reiver Sports Network.
