FORMER WARRIOR MURPHY SIGNS PRO CONTRACT

Ottumwa, IA – Former Indian Hills Women's Soccer All-American Emily Murphy has signed her first professional contract with Völsungur, located in Húsavík, Iceland.

One of the most decorated student-athletes in Indian Hills Women's Soccer history, Murphy was a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women's Soccer All-American from 2018-19. The school's all-time leading scorer, Murphy finished her illustrious career at the University of Green Bay Wisconsin this past season.

A premier professional women's soccer club in Iceland, Völsungur plays in the top tier of Icelandic Women's Soccer, the Úrvalsdeild kvenna. Völsungur has won several titles in recent years, including the Icelandic Women's Cup in 2015 and the Icelandic Women's Super Cup in 2016 while reaching the quarterfinals of the UEFA Women's Champions League in 2016.

Murphy left Indian Hills as the school's all-time leader in goals and points in a game, season, and career, records that still stand to this day. Murphy totaled 165 career points, scoring 71 career goals with 23 career assists. During her time at Indian Hills, the Warriors went 28-6-1 on the pitch.

In three seasons at Green Bay, Murphy started 37 contests, totaling 23 points on eight career goals and seven assists.

Murphy joins former teammate Charlyann Pizzarello in the professional ranks. Pizzarello currently plays for Newcastle United in the FA Women's National League and is a member of the Gibraltar Women's National Team.
