IHCC MAKES IT EIGHT STRAIGHT

IOWA FALLS, IA – Indian Hills kept its string of wins going today as it handled ICCAC foe Ellsworth in straight sets in Iowa Falls, 25-15, 25-12 and 25-18.

The win moved IHCC to 9-5 overall and 6-3 in league play and was the eighth consecutive victory for the Warriors.  Indian Hills hasn't suffered a defeat since a 3-1 loss to Hutchinson back on February 19 at the Blue Dragon Classic in Hutchinson, Kansas.  Ellsworth fell to 4-11 in both league play and its overall record.

During this eight-match win streak, the Warriors have collected five straight-set wins and haven't been pushed to a fifth set even once, with the other three contests ending in four-set victories.

"We're always glad to see another win, but we saw some things we need to clean up before we finish up the remainder of our tough schedule coming up," said IHCC Head Coach Lyndsey Michel.  "We definitely need to work on some things at the serving line."

The Warriors had six service errors in the brief match.

"We have some top quality competition coming our way," Michel added.  "We're looking forward to that and we hope to clean things up, execute plays and continue to grow."

IHCC rested top hitter Gabriela Cavalcante Oliveira for the second time in three games to nurse an ailing knee.  Freshman Zara McCauley filled in again to fill that void and drew praise from her coach for her efforts.

"Zara stepped in for Gabby today and I'm really happy with how she's contributing," Michel said.  "She's becoming a solid option for us."

McCauley had nine kills, 11 digs and was 15-of-16 from the service line with an ace.

Jenna Valle led the attack at the net with 13 kills and two blocks.  Precious Daley added ten kills against the Panthers.  Cassia Lemos ran the IHCC offense dishing out 41 assists while collecting 14 digs and was a flawless 9-for-9 from the service stripe.

Libero Anja Vranic was noted for her efforts in keeping Ellsworth's attack at bay.

"Anja had a great day defensively for us," Michel added.  "We're going to need that to continue."

Vranic had a team high 17 digs and was 10-of-11 serving.

Bailea Yahnke was 21-of-21 serving with an ace and had 12 digs.  Jarolin de los Santos had 6 kills and two blocks while Jentry Schafer added five kill, one block and four digs.

IHCC will now prepare for a busy week ahead.  The Warriors will host three home games this week, and they will serve as their last three regular season home contests as Michel's troops will end the season on the road for four straight matches. The Warriors host Kirkwood on Tuesday at 7 p.m. followed by a Thursday makeup date with Mineral Area at 5 p.m., and a Sunday contest with NIACC at 1 p.m.
