WARRIORS SPLIT A PAIR AT IA-MO CHALLENGE

Marshalltown, IA – No. 16 Indian Hills Volleyball split a pair of matches on the final day of the inaugural Iowa-Missouri Volleyball Challenge. The Warriors defeated Mineral Area College (MO) 3-0 before falling 3-1 to Missouri State University – West Plains.

The split moves the Warriors to 14-6 overall on the year. Three of the team's wins have come against ranked opponents this year, including the victory over No. 17 Mineral Area on Saturday. Missouri State-West Plains, currently No. 8 in the latest national rankings, has now defeated the Warriors twice this season.

One day after opening the Iowa-Missouri Volleyball Challenge with a victory over Jefferson College, the Warriors responded with a clean sweep of Mineral Area. The Warriors won in straight sets – 25-18, 25-23, and 25-16.

Sophomore Zara McCauley (Mount Barker, South Australia/Heathfield) put together a solid performance for the second consecutive match for the Warriors. McCAuley led the charge with 12 kills on 30 attempts and added a pair of blocks in the win. Teammate Brooke Amann (Woodstock, IL/South Dakota State) added 11 kills for the Warriors.

Haleigh Hadley (Gilbert, IA/Iowa State) and Precious Daley (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) were present at the net all match long, combining for nine total blocks. Anja Vranic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sports Gymnasium) added 17 digs for the Warriors.

Looking for a weekend sweep, the Warriors fell short in the nightcap against Missouri State-West Plains. The Grizzlies took the first two sets, 25-13 and 25-19, before Indian Hills rallied back for a 25-16 victory in set three. West Plains closed out the match with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.

Daley led the attack for the Warriors with a season-best 18 kills, two shy of a career-best effort. The sophomore middle blocker added 10 digs, two blocks, and three service aces in the loss.

Amann added 11 kills for the Warriors, the sophomore's seventh double-digit kill effort of the season.

Indian Hills heads to the Highland Triangular on Oct. 8 to take on Highland Community College (KS) and Butler College (KS).
