MICHALSKA, NOGUEIRA DA SILVA  SWEEP ICCAC HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Indian Hills Volleyball swept the weekly Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week awards after picking up three wins at the Sheila Worley Invitational in Sterling, CO over the weekend.

Sophomore Kinga Michalska (Szówsko, Poland/ZSSCHiO) and freshman Sabrina Nogueira Da Silva (São Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Campos Salles) powered the Warriors' efforts with a strong showing on the court last week. Michalska has been tapped as the ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week while Nogueira Da Silva earned ICCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Michalska collects her second-career ICCAC weekly honor after a career performance for the Warriors. The sophomore outside hitter totaled a new personal-best 25 kills in a 3-1 win over Snow on Saturday to close out the Sheila Worley Invite in dominant fashion. In five total matches last week, Michalska tallied 66 kills in 18 sets played while hitting .347 for the week.

Michalska ranks second on the team with 166 kills on the year and is just five kills away from eclipsing the 600-career kill mark. The sophomore has now tallied seven double-digit kill performances this year.

On the defensive side, Nogueira Da Silva has gotten off to a strong start for her collegiate career. The libero tallied 74 kills last week for an average of 14.8 digs per match. The freshman has now tallied 10 double-digit dig efforts over the team's last 11 contests.

On the week, Nogueira Da Silva also tallied six service aces for the Warriors.

The Warriors return to action Wednesday night for the team's home opener against ICCAC foe Iowa Western at 7:00 PM at the Hellyer Center.
