2024 NJCAA DI VOLLEYBALL POLL - PRESEASON
Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Volleyball team, coming off its second consecutive trip to the national tournament, checked in at No. 9 in the preseason National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball rankings, announced Monday afternoon.
The Warriors, who placed ninth overall at last year's national tournament, earned 108 points from the NJCAA DI Volleyball to crack the preseason national rankings for the third consecutive year. The Warriors were ranked No. 19 to start the 2022 campaign and No. 4 prior to the start of last year.
Indian Hills posted a 31-11 overall record last year while capturing the regular season Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) and NJCAA Midwest District Championships. After dropping its opening match at the national tournament, the Warriors rattled off three consecutive victories to post their second straight top-10 finish at the national tournament.
Head coach Lyndsey Michel returns six sophomores from last year's national tournament run, including NJCAA and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American Sara Van Gisteren, the nation's top point scorer from a year ago.
The Warriors' 2024 schedule features seven teams in the preseason national poll, including four who checked in in the top-10. Indian Hills will match up with both No. 7 Weatherford College (TX) and No. 8 Odessa College (TX) during its opening weekend at the NMMI Classic.
Indian Hills begins its run to a third consecutive national tournament August 22-24 in Roswell, NM for the NMMI Classic hosted by New Mexico Military Institute. The Warriors' will take on Eastern Arizona College at 5:00 PM CT on August 22 before taking on Dodge City Community College (KS), Weatherford, and Odessa.
The Warriors' home opener is slated for August 27 at the Hellyer Center against Des Moines Area Community College with first tip set for 7:00 PM.
