NO. 19 WARRIORS RUN PAST COUGARS 3-0

Waterloo, IA – No. 19 Indian Hills Volleyball went on the road to secure its third consecutive victory with a 3-0 sweep of Illinois Central Community College on Saturday. The Warriors move to 20-9 overall on the year.

Indian Hills secured its fourth consecutive 20-win season after dropping the Cougars in Saturday's neutral site contest at Hawkeye Community College. The Warriors scored their 10th 3-0 shutout of the year with set scores of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-19.

Taking on the Cougars for the first time in 10 seasons, Indian Hills was led offensively by sophomore Sara Van Gisteren's (Leuth, Netherlands/Young Talent Academy ROC Nijmegen) ninth double-double of the year. The outside hitter produced a team-high 14 kills and 10 digs to lead the charge. Van Gisteren has now tallied double-digit kills in 22 consecutive matches and 27 of the team's 29 contests this year.

Freshman Joanna Pawlik (Lublin, Poland/Nauczycieli Tajnego Nauczania) added 11 kills on 26 attempts for a .308 hitting percentage in the win. Daniela De Los Santos Castillo (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Colegio los Clavelines) boasted an impressive all-around performance on both sides of the net for the Warriors. The sophomore middle blocker tallied nine kills, six blocks, and three service aces.

Ana Carolina Westerich (Blumenau, Brazil/Colégio Energia) served up 35 assists to extend her national-leading mark to 1,123 on the year.

Next up for the Warriors is an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) showdown with Iowa Western Community College on October 23. Action from Council Bluffs, IA get underway at 7:00 PM.
